The benefits of swimming as exercise for humans have been recognised for many years, but swimming can also be beneficial to our pets. Many dogs are natural water babies and will enjoy splashing about in lakes and rivers given half a chance.

Unfortunately a lot of dogs never get the opportunity to try out their water wings, due either to lack of safe places to swim in their area, or to the owners reluctance to share a house/car with a soggy dog!

Now this need not be a problem. Just bring them along to “Paws to Splash”! We have a well lit, climatically controlled environment. The pool is in a pleasantly warm room where the water is carefully treated for hygiene considerations - and heated too!

We provide a body harness to which a flexible guide pole is clipped. This way your pet can be directed around the pool without putting any strain on its neck. In certain cases a buoyancy aid is available for added confidence.

After the swim what better way to finish than with a “massaging blow” with our effective “blaster” warm air drier.

Swimming for fun and enjoyment is one aspect of “Paws to Splash”. However a more serious consideration is that of post operative or injury recuperation. In water, a damaged limb can be exercised without having to be weight bearing.

The power and duration of exercise can also be regulated.

If you own a dog that suffers from arthritis, is recovering from surgery or needs to lose weight, swimming regularly may be of great benefit. Our pool is heated to a comfortable 29 degrees Centigrade so your pet will not be further stressed by cold water.

Access to the pool is up a non-slip ramp, and then either solid steps or ramp into the water. Of course the enthusiastic can just plunge straight in! For disabled pets we have a lifting arrangement for pool access. Once in the water the harness can be used to give confidence yet allow use of limbs.

A well drained floor area, covered with swimming pool matting, keeps watchers feet dry and safe from slipping.

The pool is not only illuminated by external lighting but underwater as well. Handy for observing submerged action!

And how about that toning up before an important show! The judges will marvel at the enhanced physique!

Because a lot of owners care so much about their pets, not wishing to subject them to anything they wouldn't do themselves, our pool is designed to allow owners to join in. It has a uniform depth so their is no fear of suddenly sinking into deep water! Nor is there any danger from pollution or possibly hidden dangers such as broken glass or other debris!

They can provide close reassurance for their pet and carefully steer them through the hydrotherapy jets. Maybe linger a little themselves to massage away those small persistent excesses! Afterwards, a warm shower is available.

For those who want to watch the fun but don’t want to get wet, we have viewing windows.
